Reggae, Calypso and and Island Pop
Sugahbeat is refreshingly different. Seamlessly blending world rhythms with contemporary beats, Reggae with Samba, Pop with Soca (West Indian for “Soul Calypso”), Latin with R&B, until the lines are blurred between them all, creating a distinctive, proprietary sound. The “cover” songs that are played by Sugahbeat have been converted & arranged to suit their style. The advantage to this is that while those songs are instantly recognizable to the audience, they may be presented with a creative twist, and it’s unlikely a listener has heard them arranged like this before! A live band is not an iPod, after all, and much of any group’s performance is predicated on reading the crowd and choosing appropriate songs for the mood…if a crowd wants to dance, the selections are upbeat, if guests are eating dinner the material may be more sophisticated and subdued. Regardless of the venue or event, you’re sure to get a festive, fun, and entertaining show!
